The Clachan Inn is run by the Strang’s The family run business is situated on the square in the centre of Drymen and takes great pride in offering true Scottish hospitality in its bar, restaurant and comfortable accommodation. Delicious lunch and dinner menus featuring home cooked meals are served in the bar and restaurant for the hungry walker and visitor.

About Drymen

If you are touring Scotland or exploring the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, there are few places more beautiful than the village of Drymen, just three miles from Loch Lomond.

Centuries ago, Drymen was a collecting point and market place for cattle raised in the highlands on route for the major meat market at Smithfield London. The Endrick river which flows nearby and into Loch Lomond was the lowest crossing point for the driven cattle. The most famous drover of all, RobRoy MacGregor took 6-8 weeks to take the cattle to London covering around 18-20 miles in a day.

In 1669, the Scottish Parliament authorised a weekly market in Drymen and two annual cattle fairs in May and October.

Nowadays the village is popular with tourists and walkers trekking the famous West Highland Way and the aptly named RobRoy way. Drymen is the traditional first stop on The West Highland Way 95 miles which begins in Milngavie and ends in Fort William. The Rob Roy Way starts at the doorstep of The Clachan Inn and finishes in Pitlochry approximately 92 miles away.

The village, with a glorious surrounding landscape and charming village green boasts a lively community and The Clachan Inn is famously at its centre.
